Women's Group Announces Abortion-Breast Cancer Commercial
February 12th, 2002
The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer, an international women’s organization, announced its efforts to raise funds to air new television commercials informing women about the existence of medical research linking abortion with breast cancer. The research is cited on the group’s website, www.AbortionBreastCancer.com.
The ABC Link film commercials were created and produced by VirtueMedia, Inc.(www.virtuemedia.org), a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to creating and airing positive messages of life, love, and hope through national quality award-winning television commercials. The commercials (:10 & :30 second lengths) feature a female coach mentoring her high school girls' volleyball team.
A portion of the voice over says: “I wish I’d known. I’ve got breast cancer and wish someone had told me earlier that abortion could increase the risk of breast cancer by 50% or more. Learn the facts today.”
These commercials are currently airing in select U.S. and international markets, in English and Spanish.
Mrs. Karen Malec, president of the coalition, offered her comments: “We’re delighted that Virtue Media has made this commercial available to help educate women about abortion as a risk factor for breast cancer. American women should have been informed by public health authorities about the existence of this research in 1973 when Roe v. Wade legalized abortion. Instead, the medical establishment told women that abortion was a ‘safe’ procedure.”
Individuals wishing to contribute to the coalition’s effort may do so by sending a check to P.O. Box 152, Palos Heights, Illinois 60463. The coalition has applied for its 501(c)3 status with the IRS.
