Dear Friends:
"October has been designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and greater awareness is certainly needed," declared Susan Wills in an article this week for the National Catholic Register. "Unfortunately, for some groups, when it comes to breast cancer, it is "Selective Awareness" month."
Wills is associate director for education for the U.S. bishops' Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities. In her article, she argues that the scourge of political correctness - not a lack of evidence - is what prevents the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the U.S. National Cancer Institute and even medical textbooks from fully informing women about the cancer risks of abortion and the use of birth control pills containing estrogen and progestin. Wills calls Komen a "cash cow," and she berates the cancer fundraising business for giving "about a half-million dollars a year to Planned Parenthood." She asks, "How exactly will that reduce breast cancer rates?"
See Wills' article below and then spread the word.
Sincerely, Karen Malec Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer
