Dear Friends:
Why do feminists like Katha Pollitt, a columnist for The Nation, persist in misrepresenting abortion and hormonal contraceptives as "reproductive health" for women, even though there are recognized health risks associated with both? The evidence supporting these risks has accumulated over the last few decades and is so overwhelming that one researcher has rightly labeled the doctors who perform abortions "quacks."
Pollitt, however, is too busy attacking the Catholic Church to bother demanding that the quacks inform pregnant mothers about the recognized risks of abortion.
Many people were offended that Pollitt likened the Catholic Church to the Mormon cult, Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You can read Pollitt's article and my published letter in the Chicago Tribune online (links shown below).
