Dear
Friends:
Polls
show that the public is bitterly and overwhelmingly opposed to a
radical
overhaul of the healthcare system. Voters are also opposed to President
Obama's
plan to boost Planned Parenthood's
revenues
by forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions, especially during a time of
grave
economic distress. Exhibiting what
one commentator called a "public
be damned" attitude, the Obama administration is expected to unveil its
latest healthcare reform bill today.
Call
your
representatives in Congress today! Tell them an abortion mandate
means more
dead women from breast cancer! Also, ask for a Congressional
investigation of
the National Cancer Institute.
It
is disgraceful that the leaders of this great nation - President
Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and
others - would recklessly impose an abortion mandate on the nation at
the
behest of the abortion industry when we have sent a letter
to Congress and the
President notifying them that the
U.S. National
Cancer Institute's (NCI) statements concerning the non-existence of an
abortion-breast cancer link are at odds with what the research of NCI
branch chief Louise Brinton (and many others) have concluded. Jessica
Dolle,
Louise Brinton and their colleagues reported unequivocally that "...induced
abortion
and oral contraceptive use were associated with an increased risk
of breast
cancer." (Dolle
et
al. 2009)
Here
are more reasons why the inclusion of an abortion mandate would hurt
women:
1)
Three studies last year from the U.S., China and
Turkey
reported statistically significant risk increases for women with
abortions. (Dolle et al. 2009, Xing et al. 2009 and Ozmen et al.
2009) The Turkish study said most studies report risk increases
among
women who've had abortions.
2)
Even the NCI admits that increased childbearing, starting at a younger
age,
provides a long-term reduction in breast cancer risk.
3)
The NCI's online videocast of its 2003 workshop on the
abortion-breast
cancer link shows that the agency's leaders refused to permit an
examination of
studies supporting that link. Only the much smaller body of research
reporting
no link was examined during the workshop. (Where have all of the
Woodwards and
Bernsteins gone?)
4)
The link between abortion and having a premature
birth later in life is considered settled science, with
the Institute of Medicine citing
abortion as a risk factor in
2006 and the publication of
three systematic reviews supporting
this
link. [http://justiceforkids.webs.com/]
Premature birth puts
babies at risk for cerebral palsy,
mental
retardation, problems with eyesight and hearing, etc.
Can
taxpayers afford to pay for more cases of breast cancer, premature
birth,
cerebral palsy, mental retardation, etc.? Why
do abortion enthusiasts in the administration and Congress hate women?
Why are
they willing to climb over thousands of women's bodies, just to
increase the
abortion industry's revenues?
Representatives
in the U.S. House are under extreme pressure to pass the Senate's plan
for healthcare reform. Unlike
the House
bill, the Senate bill does not include "Stupak language" - language
prohibiting the use of federal funds to pay for abortions.
Contact
your legislators
in both the House and the Senate today. Tell them
an abortion mandate means more
dead women from breast cancer. Ask them to conduct a Congressional
investigation of the National Cancer Institute.
Then,
spread the word and share this message with your friends, family and
colleagues.
Sincerely,
Karen Malec
