Dear Friends:
This week, members of the U.S. House of Representatives are expected to
cast a final vote on the Senate's bill addressing healthcare reform. As
you know, the Senate bill does not contain Stupak
language, which would prohibit the use of government funds to pay for
abortion.
The lack of Stupak language is unconscionable and unacceptable. Taxpayer-funded abortions will lead to
more abortions, and more abortions will result in more cases of breast
cancer and premature birth.
This is your last chance to have an impact on your Congressman or
Congresswoman's vote. The
best thing you could do would be to visit your representative's
district office this week. Give
your representative (or a member of his/her staff) two documents (shown
below).
The study, Dolle et al. 2009, in which
National Cancer Institute branch chief Louise Brinton admitted an
abortion-breast cancer link (see top of p. 1163):

of Medicine's book, Preterm Birth, which lists abortion as a risk factor
for having a premature birth later in life.

Ask
how
government
funded
abortion
can be justified when: 1) National
Cancer Institute branch chief Louise Brinton admitted in her study last
year, Dolle et al. 2009, that abortion raises breast cancer risk; 2)
The
Institute
of
Medicine
lists abortion as a risk factor for having a
premature birth later in life; and 3) Standard medical texts show that
childbearing sharply reduces breast cancer risk.
Congressman Bart Stupak was interviewed on the radio program, WKQS's
Mark and Walk morning show in which he reported on a conversation with
abortion enthusiast Congressman Henry Waxman.
Here
is what the transcript of Stupak's interview reveals:
"I gave him the language. He came
back a little while later and said, 'But we want to pay for abortions.'
I said, 'Mr. Chairman, that's--we disagree. We don't do it now, we're
not going to start.'
Stupak said Waxman responded: "'But
we think we should.'"
"I said, 'Well, I'm sorry but the
House has spoken. We had that debate. We won 240-190. You forced the
vote, a vote we won fair and square and we're not gonna, this is what
it is. If you want to move healthcare, keep current law,'"
Stupak said.
Stupak later told National Review Online why Democratic leaders want an
abortion mandate included in healthcare reform. He explained their
viewpoint:
"If you pass the Stupak amendment,
more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions
more. That's one of the arguments I've been hearing," Stupak reported.
"Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If
money is the issue--come on, we can find room in the budget. This is
life we're talking about."
Waxman led a group of Democrats in 2002-2003 who vigorously
fought to remove the
National Cancer Institute's web page accurately reporting that 16 out
of 17 statistically significant U.S. studies reported increased breast
cancer risk for women with abortions. Stupak's radio interview explains
Waxman's enthusiasm for induced abortion.
It also explains the Democratic leadership's astounding
indifference to the news that a U.S. National Cancer Institute branch
chief has admitted abortion raises breast cancer risk. It doesn't
matter how many women must die of breast cancer because of their
earlier abortions. It doesn't matter how many premature babies must
suffer physical or mental handicaps, as long as Congressman Henry
Waxman and other abortion enthusiasts in Congress can save government
funds in the long run.
The government corrupts healthcare and science because its agenda
always supercedes the health of its citizens.
Rush over to your Congressman's
district office today before it's too late. And don't forget to
bring the two documents shown above.
Sincerely,
Karen Malec
