MISS KAREN MALEC President Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer P.O. Box 957133 Hoffman Estates, IL 60195-3051 U.S.A.
Dear Miss Malec,
The Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Incorporated (PFBCI) is grateful to Ms. Denise Mountenay for visiting us and for being our Guest Speaker last February 16, 2006 during our 2nd Breast Care Center-East Avenue Medical Center (BCC-EAMC) Breast Cancer Forum: "The Abortion (induced) & Breast Cancer Link" held at Quezon City, Philippines. This forum was a joint activity of PFBCI, BCSMI, Roche - Oncology Philippines, and BCC-EAMC.
We admire Ms Mountenay's bravery and commitment to advocate the "A BC" Link. In behalf of the board of trustees and members of PFBCI, we acknowledge the abortion and breast cancer link based on the physiologic changes in the breast lobules of a woman who chose to deliberately interrupt her pregnancy (induced abortion) and the risk for breast cancer this will pose to that woman.
Here in the Philippines, induced abortion is still illegal...but though glad that it still is, extrapolated data shows that we have some 500,000 - 800,000 victims of induced abortion annually. Alarming to note that in 2004, the Philippines has the highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia...more alarming to find out that the Philippines also has the highest incidence of illegal, induced abortion since 1997. Indeed, women should be made aware of the A BC Link!
Best Regards,
